“ Here comes autumn, bringing the mist and rain.  Summer has gone for another year, autumn’s here again.”

If your thoughts are lingering on a fun filled summer and you are wondering what to do next, think about getting out and about. The park is a great place for learning to take place. You can look at the changing colours of the trees, gather leaves and talk about shape and size and watch wildlife such as squirrels rushing about preparing for the winter.  At home, encouraging your children to help cut up seasonal vegetables to make a tummy warming soup is a great way to introduce mathematical language such as ‘whole , half and quarters’, talk about using tools safely and healthy eating.

Later on in the term we get into party mode, showing off our cultural dress, listening  to music from around the world,  eating  delicious food  and  celebrating our how unique we are but wanting to  come together  to share our experiences.

The autumn term at Rebecca Cheetham is my favourite of the year. Getting back into the swing of routines and overcoming  the initial anxieties  of settling in leads into the feelings of belonging. Just like learning to zip up a warm coat, it may be a challenge at first but it’s followed by warm snug contentment.
